Chemistry Club Performs, Educates Local Washington Heights Youth on the Environment Apr 26, 2010 -- In celebration of Earth Day, the Yeshiva College Chemistry Club - a student chapter of the American Chemical Society - put on a chemistry magic show for the fifth grade at the Washington Heights Academy (PS 366). The show enabled the Club to educate young students from the local community about pressing environmental issues facing through exciting and educational science demonstrations and fun hands-on activities. [miniflickr photoset_id="72157623811192227"] The student chemistry “magicians” who organized the show were Chemistry Club President Chanan Reitblat, Ben Recca, Betzalel Bacon and Ari Cuperfain. “At this critical point in their lives it is essential that these young students have role models to motivate them and help them believe that if you put in the hard work you can achieve your goals,” said Reitblat. “The chemistry show was a great platform to communicate to them that science is cool and exciting and to inspire them to think about their responsibilities to the environment."
